Russian Patriarchate suspends relations with Church of Sweden
MOSCOW. (Interfax)
- The Moscow Patriarchate has suspended relations with the Evangelical-Lutheran Church of Sweden after it decided to establish an official ceremony on blessing homosexual couples.
"We have received with great disappointment and grief the news that not only does the Lutheran Church of Sweden not oppose so-called homosexual marriages, but has even ruled to establish an official blessing ceremony," Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church said in a statement at a session in Moscow on Tuesday.
The members of the Synod believe that the Church of Sweden's decision contradicts the Biblical concept of family and marriage "and the testimonies of the Holy Writing leave us no doubt that homosexuality is considered a sin and 'confusion'," the statement says.

Hennes första jul som kristen innebar mordhot och skyddat boende. I somras blev Miriam kristen efter att ha varit sunni-muslim. Någon angav hennes konvertering för familjen och nu lever hon under mordhot och blir tvungen att flytta.- Polisen har lagt ner fallet. De säger att det inte längre finns någon hotbild mot mig, säger hon.

Stanley Sjöberg, pastor i Centrum-kyrkan, i Sundbyberg, har själv tagit emot flera mordhot från muslimer.
– I både sharia och i Koranen är det straffbart att överge Islam för någon annan tro. Det är även så i Sverige att en kvinna som blir kristen förföljs och utsätts. Därför måste muslimska ledare förmås att ompröva sin tro. Vi som levt under sådana hot vet att det är ett fruktansvärt allvar.
Imam Abd al Haqq Kielan säger att hoten är oförenliga med islam.
Det är en helt annan sak att byta religion. Enligt islamsk lag får en muslim inte bli kristen, men då vi bor i Sverige måste vi rätta oss efter den svenska lagen och då får man inte hota andra. Det är de lärde ense om, hävdar han.

What will an unchecked Iran do?

Threaten Israeli, U.S., and European security.

Harden Arab positions in any future peace negotiations.

Increase militancy and embolden hard-liners.

Destabilize the Gulf area.

Encourage other countries, such as Saudi Arabia, to follow.:
